I had this! I learned how to play Black Jack because of this game, it's the only game that felt like I wasn't just throwing money at the game. I left in a limo once, I considered that a win.

Always wanted this game as a kid.The box art always called to me. I finally bought it a few years ago, and really expected a bit more. Wish the music kept playing while you played the table games. Or changed tunes when you went to a different game. The bathroom and ride home are neat touches, but just wish there was more to those or to the game. It’s surprisingly inexpensive game currently, so it’s a “why not pick it up to add to the collection” type game.

The slippery movement ruins this game for sure. It's been a few years since I've played through it, but the shoe will give you an extra hit point. Jumping on other enemies will give you the weapons (maybe you need to have the shoe first? I can't remember) or traversal items in some stages like gloves that let you grab the ceiling like a rope. But yeah, it mostly gets harder and the key is dying and memorizing the stages. The other awful part of this game that you didn't see are the Super Game Boy color palettes, which are eye-piercingly bad and cannot be changed.

if you kept going in the cave, you would've found the movement speed item as a zelda and metroidvania enjoyer, this game is really cool

I get your comments having to use a guide, but it's a you thing. The game is pretty fluid, the moves do work as listed and don't register mis-hits either. KoF95 is just hard, hardest of the SNK GB brawlers the US got, 96 which was got hosed out of dials it back a little and plays just better and more balanced. Yet, that said, Samurai SHodown 1 and3(JP only) play even more smoothly with quality move sets that work. Fatal Fury Special also hit Japan but not here, that one is a real peak gem for the no-weapons fighters by them, yet Fatal Fury 2 which we didn't get, it's borderline unplayably bad, not MK4 bad but in other ways. There was also a World Heroes 2 Jet we did get, it's solid, I'd put it in the upper end as well, and Japan got on this engine also a Transformers Beast Wars that plays very nicely and is 2x the size since you can transform and get a new body and moves. They also did a Battle Arena Toshinden game on this engine and it works better than the 3D game to me. :P

Fun fact: my husband was the executive producer on this game. He had to learn all the rules of NFL football. One year we watched the super bowl together and he patiently explained every single play to me (me not knowing thing one about football). It made the game enjoyable for me.

Congrats on your 300th. I sadly never owned any of the Mega Man games for GB. However, I at least got a chance to borrow part 1 & 2 from grade school friends for a weekend at a time. Not enough time to beat them for me (I wasn’t that familiar with Mega Man cause I didn’t have a NES!). They’re on my list to buy soon though.

Yay, my favorite of these, aside from the only unique one, the last (MM5). Seems in the old black and white era, the sequels to games that were franchises also on the NES seemed to have been the best in series/solid most improved releases. Super Mario Land 2, Castlevania II, Contra the Alien Wars (operation C came first), Gradius Interstellar Assault, and so on. And this I'd include as sequels to NES titles like Gargoyle's Quest (to GnG), Kid Icarus Myths and Monsters, and Balloon Kid (to Balloon Fight.)
